The third grade class at Carbonado has an annual tradition of taking an overnight field trip to Pioneer Farms in Eatonville.
This action-packed field trip gives students the experience of living like pioneer children for 24 hours. After sitting
through an authentic pioneer schoolhouse lesson, doing barn chores, eating meals prepared over an open fire, and getting by
without plumbing or electricity, the students leave with more of an appreciation for the modern conveniences they may have
previously taken for granted.
These pictures are from the spring of 2005.

One of the punishments at school in pioneer days was to be locked in a smelly outhouse for awhile! |

Here's a demonstration of how pioneers heated and shaped metal. |

This rooster didn't just crow at dawn, he crowed every hour or so...not so funny after bedtime! |

Everybody was able to visit the trading post right before we went home. |
